Where in the World is GEO 660 on June 1?

Over the next few weeks, we will hear from students and faculty as they take the Department of Geological Sciences’ iconic field course, GEO 660. The previous blog post is here.

According to faculty member Charles Kerans, the field school spent the last three days working on projects in and around Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. This area is north of their previous location— Cloudcroft and Alamogordo—and is “cooler but still bone-dry.”

The students are posing on the famous Entrada Formation which is a fossilized dune complex from the Jurassic.
